Pause timeline on base layer based on button on layer "x"?
Mar 05, 2018
Hi everyone,
I have come across an issue with slides that have a separate "navigation" layer. I have a hotspot on the base layer showing the navigation layer when hovering over. The navigation layer includes a pause button. I want the timeline to keep running on the base layer when the navigation layer shows, but I want the user to have the option to pause the timeline when clicking on the pause button. When I try to add a trigger to pause timeline on base layer for the pause button on the navigation layer, I get stuck as there does not seem to be that option on a layer that is NOT the base layer. I can pause the timeline only on that said layer. I am aware of the function "pause timeline on base layer" in the layer properties, but I was expecting to have that option also for objects on a layer.
Cheers
Tim

Hi Tim,
Unfortunately there isn't a direct way of doing this with just one trigger. But you can work around this by using the pause button on the layer to adjust a true/false variable and then pause the base layer based on that variable changing.
Hi Tim - Here's a quick demo that might work for you: https://360.articulate.com/review/content/25975785-440c-48a6-92ed-8d0eca294a56/review
James' suggestion makes the most sense. Using true/false variables combined with slide layer properties should do the trick.
Hi David,
Could you give more info on how to use the true/false variable combined with slide layer properties to make this work?
