problem adding engage glossary in storyline

May 31, 2013

Hey there,

I have a problem, hop sb can help:

I inserted an engage glossary in my Storyline project (via insert-engage) but when I publish it, the slide is empty.

The only way that it works, is that I save the project under the path that storyline suggests- this is a path in my user´s directory.

When I save the project under this path, it works. But when I copy the project and put in on an other path, the glossary slide is empty.

I want to put my published project on my company´s server, so that my colleagues have access to the folder.

Cnn anyone explain to me, why this doesn´t work?

Thanks a lot, best regards!

Hi Natalie:

Studio 09 projects always need to remain in their relative paths.

To insert an intr (Engage interaction) into Storyline, you need to copy the intr file into the same folder that your story file is in, then add it to the slide. With this, be aware, the interaction is actually inserted as a Web Object so you will not be able to place anything in front of it, nor will you be able to control it in the timeline of Storyline.

Hope this helps.

Hey Dennis,

Thanks for your reply.

I tried out what you suggested and  put my .intr file in the same folder as my .story.file. Then I added it to the story file via new slide-import-engage.

But the same happened- when publishing the story - the engage glossary works when I put the published output in the folder that storyline suggests me it works - when I put it in an other folder it doesn´t work and the slide is empty. :(

And I really don´t know why...

Hi Natalie:

By chance, are you viewing the published output from you local drive, or a web server?

Because the Engage interaction is actually inserted into Storyline as a WebObject, you will need to view the published output from a web server.

Computer Browsers will not allow you to view linked webpages from a drive letter (local or network). I must be uploaded to a webserver or you LMS to be viewed.

I hope this resolves your issue.

Best Regards,
