Problem opening external hyperlinks in published course

Dec 31, 2012

Hi there,

Myself and a colleague are having issues opening hyperlinks in published courses. We're using hotspots or buttons or hyperlinked text to go to a website or download a file. We have validated that the links are good links.

When we publish the course, we cannot launch the links. We get the hand icon that indicates a link is there, but an additional window does not open. Other links from other pages in the same browser work fine.

I'm using Win 8, and Google Chrome, my colleague is using Windows 7, with IE.

I should note that previously (Until last week) I was using Win7 with IE9 and this worked fine for me.

Any thoughts on how to repair this?

Cheers,

Jamie

Hi Jamie,

How are you viewing the content? If you're viewing published courses locally, hyperlinks may not function properly. Make sure you have the content uploaded to a web server, or LMS before testing the links.

Here's some more information:

If you view published Storyline content on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.
To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the following article for details:
If you are viewing the content on a web server or LMS, are you able to share a link to the published course or share the .story file here?
Thanks!
Christine
