Publishing courses with French Accents in Storyline
Jan 08, 2013
Hello. Is there a way to publish course titles with French accents in Storyline? I've tried multiple ways to get them to appear correctly but the é character always appears as question marks. I took the same text and put it into Articulate Presenter and it appears correctly there. I've ruled out that it's an LMS issue as the manifest file has the accents incorrect there. The title displays correctly in Storyline throughout the publishing process.
The course title that I've been attempting to get to display correctly is: Informations Confidentielles Et Privilégiées
I attached two screen shots of the manifest file. One of them is from the course using Storyline and the other is from Presenter.
I downloaded and installed the latest Storyline update from December but I continue to experience this issue.

Hey Andrew!
What font are you using? Are you seeing the same result when using a unicode font? If so, we'd be happy to take a closer look at it. Please submit a case, including your .story file, using this link so our support team can assist you further.
Thanks!
I appreciate the speedy response but somehow I missed the email notification, glad I came back to check this.
How do you change the font in the publishing window, as shown in the bottom screenshot of my original post? I used the same default font in that window as I did in Presenter.
Hi Andrew, if you do find a solution for this issue can you please post it here. I am working on a English/French project right now and will likely have the same issue once I'm ready to publish to LMS.
Hello Peter, were you able to look at what I was referring to? It's within the publishing window. The accents appear correctly in the player but they do not appear correct in the course title when uploaded to the LMS. I tested it in the scorm cloud and had the same results.
Hi Andrew!
Did you ever get a chance to open a support ticket on this? I don't see a case associated with your user name. I do see your issue and I haven't been able to find a workaround for it, so I'd recommend going ahead and contacting the support engineers for further assistance. And please feel free to leave me your case number so I can follow up with it.
Thanks!
Thanks Peter. I submitted Articulate Case # 00315459
Thanks Andrew, we really appreciate it!
Thanks for submitting a Case, Andrew.
We were able to reproduce the problem, and the only work-around for now is to eliminate the accented characters from the Course Title. I've reported the problem to the Articulate Quality Assurance Team, and we'll keep you posted on our progress.
Please let us know if you need anything else. Thanks!
While we continue to research this problem, here is more information, including a work-around.
Same problem. Thanks, Justin, although, that was exactly was we were trying to avoid: forcing instructional designers to modify the manifest.
I really hope Articulate to solve this. It is not a minor detail.
Thanks for letting us know that the problem affects you, Javier.
We will keep this Forum Thread apprised of any updates. Thanks!
Hi,
Any news since last year about that issue ?

Hi Lilian and welcome to Heroes!
