Randomized flashcards?
Feb 10, 2020
Greetings, all
I'm trying to make a user-assessed set of flashcards, on a timer (what the client wants). Right now, once a card is flipped, a circle shows up that users can click they believe their answers to be correct.
I'm concerned that users will be learning patterns of answers, and not the answers to the flashcards. Is there a way of randomly presenting slides (I don't think there is) or of somehow putting flashcards into a bank? (I can lose the scoring function if needed, I'm more interested in random presentation.)
I'm attaching the skeleton of the file if you want to take a look.

Hello, I took a crack at this.
Triggers get a little funky with the new panel, sometimes they won't go up or down where you want them and you have to finagle them up and down a bit to get them to go where you want them. That said, this is not bulletproof, it works most the time, but gets hung up sometimes when going back to the same slide. It may give you some ideas!
But thought I would post, maybe a fresh set of eyes could do it better ;0)
Good luck!
Great! Thanks so much!
So, the line that has the term "random numbers" is what does the trick?
To randomly draw slides you can add them to a question bank, they do not need be questions.
To randomise the position of the flash cards I would create the slide as a pick one or pick many freeform and set them to appear randomly doesn't need be submitted you just want the random function.
A lot easier than messing with variables (sorry Jeff).
I added a file to show how it works
This is cool, too. Phil. If I had more than six slides, would it pull from all of them? Or does the user click to go to the next page?
My apologizes if that is a dumb question. I'm new to the mysteries of test banks.
In the group you select how many slides you want to appear and use a jump to next slide trigger should show how many you want to appear
Oh I see now! All the slides were numbered as 1, so I didn't get that they were moving from card to card. Very nice!
NO problem I was lazy and duplicated the three slides
I'd like to give students credit when, in there opinion, they "got" the card right. You've seen how I did that earlier. Can you think of a more elegant way of giving credit when the user does something?
Duh! I was overthinking it! Nice work Phil, and much better idea ;0)
