Role-based training using variables in Storyline

I am developing role-based eLearning. I built it in Articulate Presenter, but would like to use StoryLine to create a menu of roles, and then based on a chosen role have the student take certain modules. So let's say there are 7 modules.
Role A would take modules 1, 2, 4, and 6
Role B would take modules 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7
Role C would take modules 1, 2, and 4
Based on the role they selected from the menu, they would be directed to the appropriate modules when they advanced the slide.
It would seem that I could do this by setting a variable (%role%) and then based on the value of the variable, advance to the appropriate slide.
Do you know of any tutorials/posts that explain something like this?

Perhaps Phil Mayor can help you, he's been working on something like this.
Not sure if exactly similar, however, as he's also "King of Variables", I'm sure he'll be able to help.

Hi Bob,
Did you manage to get anywhere with your role based training concept?
Never saw this, I used a variable to track the role, and then used conditions on the next button based on that variable to decide where the slide went to
Excellent! Thank you Phi! I found a similar response in another thread titled "Branching based on a variable" in a post by Vispi:
trigger 1: jump to slide X (in the conditions just say IF variable tool = unique number)
trigger 2: jump to slide Y (in the conditions just say IF variable tool = unique number)
trigger 3: jump to slide Z (in the conditions just say IF variable tool = unique number)
I think this will work for me!
