Safari renders text poorly after update

Nov 28, 2018

I updated Storyline 360 this morning (11-28-18) and now I've noticed Safari (version 12.01) on a Mac renders HTML5 published text very poorly. Especially when using the Modern player. It also seems that photos are rendered a bit softer as well. Anyone else having this problem?

Hi there, Steve! I'm happy to look into what's happening with the quality.

Can you help me with these key details?

  • How do the text and photos look in other browsers?
  • Would you be able to share your .story file? I'll give it a test in a similar environment and let you know what I find. You can either attach it to this conversation or send it to me privately via this link.

Looking forward to helping!

Good morning, Steve, and those following along!

Circling back here to note that we were able to replicate the blurry text problem in Safari (HTML5 output) and have it logged as a potential bug. I've added this conversation to the report so that we can keep you updated with any new insight.

While we investigate this issue, one workaround is to convert the affected text to an image. Simply right-click on the text > Select 'Save as Picture' > Save it as a .PNG file and replace the textbox with the image.

Thanks for letting us know about this, and I'm so sorry for any headaches!

Hi Steve and Nancy!

As promised, I wanted to share that Update 26 for Storyline 360 is live – check out all the new fixes and features here!

In this update, we addressed the issue where text wold appear blurry when viewing a course in Safari.

Here’s how you can update Storyline 360 to take advantage of that fix. Let me know if you have any questions about that!
