Hi - I need to use a particular bullet point format on each slide, where I need to select square bullets and a particular colour. This is easy enough to do, but involves a few mouse clicks and I need to do it A LOT, so ideally I'd like to find a way to save the formatting. Unfortunately I can't see any way to do this (I tried adding it to the slide master view, but it didn't work.)
Does anyone have any tips on how this can be done?
I would love to get an update about this issue if there is one.
Please note that the Format Painter does not copy bullet colors or formats!
However, when I import from PowerPoint, the bullets remain as formatted in PPT, regardless of what I do to the Storyline Master slides. I suppose this is consistent with Ali's recommendation above?
It would be nice to be able to change my mind about bullet color, size, and shape without re-importing slides. Thanks for any updates or tips.
Hi Veronica! I'll leave it to the community to share their tips and tricks for formatting bullet points. I know I've seen requests for a built-in bullet formatting feature a few times here in the forums, and you're welcome to add your voice by clicking here. Thanks for taking the time to let us know what you'd like to see; that helps us to understand how in demand the feature is!
I realize that this thread is 4 years old. Unfortunately, in the last 4 years, the developers have ignored this issue and have not added any way to apply bullet point formatting other than manually for each and every bullet point on each and every slide.
In the December 2020 update they added the ability to create text styles, but did not include bullet points, so even that is a DUD feature.
Let's recap expected features for bullet points that do not exist, but have been asked for and discussed for YEARS:
Format painter - only paints information about the font itself (font type and color), paints triggers too, but not anything related to the paragraph settings (spacings before/after, bullet point formatting, etc.)
Slide master - only stores font related information, triggers, and layouts, but only when adding a new slide, does not reliably allow resetting an existing slide if changes are made, does not store or bullet point formatting
Styles - only stores font type, color, and size, but not bullet points or spacing information
Additionally, there is no way to create a heirarchy of slide bullet levels with different formatting. If you want automatic bullet points you are stuck with the simple round black dot.
Great post. It seems all we ever get is the standard "See what everyone else has done to work around our refusal to acknowledge, fix, or upgrade areas of our tool. I just came here (1/6/2022) looking for information on bullet formatting and that seems to be the default.
I too am looking for this feature. My imported slides are using custom symbol bullets which is part of our company template. Upon import, those symbols are reverted to basic black dots of varying sizes. It's painstaking to change every slide to the appropriate bullet symbols and colors. I don't understand why this isn't a feature?
I have the same concern as well. Selecting a custom bullet style and color as the default is essential for quick & efficient authoring under a template.
Bumping for visibility. I would rather have a template remember my bullet preferences than have to format it on every single slide I create. This seems like a fairly simple quality of life request.
Thanks for reaching out and sharing your comments on this feature. We'll be sure to update this discussion if this feature makes it on our feature roadmap!
This is so annoying - every, single time I create a bullet list I have to change bullet colour - why can't this simply be part of the Master or in Styles. Honestly it is a basic thing, why is it taking forever.

Hi Paul!
Have you considered utilizing the format painter to do so? That should save you some clicks :)
Not sure if anyone in the community has a better or more efficient way to share, but hopefully they will chime in if so.
Hi Paul!
One way, off the top of my head, that might work would be set up a slide in the format you need, then import it into your course multiple times.
I'll have to defer to the community for other possibilities. :)

IMHO, this is a major fail.

Bumping the thread as this should be a basic feature when setting master slides.
Can do it in MS Office, and free alternatives, why not in Storyline?

Any update on this? Selecting bullet setting/style for ever instance is annoying.
Really?? 7 years and your team can't come up with a fix for this. It is one of the most annoying things about using Storyline
