Scale to fit issues
Mar 27, 2019
I've been trying to resize my whole project from 4:3 to 16:9. And it did work for the slides, but the contents won't follow. Check out the attached screenshot to see what happened...
I was following the instructions from this tutorial: https://community.articulate.com/series/74/articles/articulate-storyline-360-user-guide-how-to-set-your-slide-size
and thought I got it right, but I obviously didn't. I'd be really grateful if you can help me out.
Thanks!

Hi, from my experience, if you increase or decrease the size of your project proportional to it's current size and select 'Scale to fit' it will work fine. But if you do what you are doing, and go from 4:3 to 16:9 then it's not going to be a perfect transition and you will need to manually fix slide content and images. There might be a way to do it that I don't know about though.
Hi Alexandra,
It looks like you need to choose the Scale to fit option to have the content resize to fit your screen.
I'd always recommend setting the slide size prior to adding content, but at this point, choosing scale to fit is the best option.
This is exactly what I've been trying to do and failing. I was trying to find out what I am missing. Perhaps it has something to do with the lock aspect ratios? Do I understand correctly that in order for this to work the objects need to have the lock aspect ratio unticked and I need to tick it in the story size pop-up? Or is it the other way around?
Now I notice that some objects do react to this setting but not all. Is it possible that it's dependent on the type of object?
Hi Alexandra,
Objects that have locked aspect ratios will maintain their ratios. Objects that don't have locked aspect ratios may change shape, depending on the slide size you choose. Learn more about locking aspect ratios here!
If you have a sneaking suspicion that something isn't working correctly on your slides, I'd be happy to take a closer look. You can send me a few sample slides privately by uploading them here. I'll delete the file when I'm done taking a look.
Hi Alyssa,
Thanks a lot for your reply! I got in touch with Support in the meantime and we found some kind of a resolution to this.
