Scoring Multiple Fill-In-The-Blank Items on Same Slide

Hello community!

My colleagues and I are developing a course in which we need to simulate a medical coder entering charges into a simulated charge capture application. We need multiple rows that each have two fill-in-the-blank entries (one for the medical code and one for the number of units to bill for). I found a sample file for scoring multiple fill-in-the-blank entries on one slide in the forums, and it worked on the first slide I created. However, when I copy the first slide, the second slide does not score correctly. I suspect it has to do with custom variables, but since I need about 18 of these scenarios in one module, I do not want to create 18 sets of custom variables. Any suggestions?

Hi Kelly - yes, it is likely a variable issue. You might try to troubleshoot (if you haven't done so already) by rebuilding a blank slide with a corresponding set of similar fields. The advantage to doing this (though it's a long path to the solution) is that you become familiar with the way that variables work...

But creating 18 sets is not too difficult; if you set up a naming convention such as "answer01" or something, then keep a record of which "answer" is captured by which variable, you should be able to manage the results relatively easily.

One other option is to go back to the source - where did you get the sample file? Contact the original developer and ask for input on how he or she put the slide together.

    Good luck!
