I would like to send a refresh message to my internet browser from my e learning session. Our LMS times out after an hour, so if you complete the training after that time it doesn't update to Complete. The learner has to start over. I would like to send a refresh message to the tab in the web browser where LMS is open.
Is it possible to use javascript to send a refresh message every "x minutes" to a specific tab in your web browser from Storyline? I am not familiar with javascript.
I can't help you out with the Javascript element, but there are a number of community members who are Javascript experts who I hope will chime in. In the meantime, have you looked at letting the user know when the connection is lost (times out) using a method such as this one?
You could update the Timer text within the player labels, you'll see it in the image below:
As for updating the connection timed out message, I don't believe that is editable within Storyline, although that doesn't mean a community member hasn't found a way to change it within the published output.
Did you disable your internet while working? Or just wait the full hour? Depending on your LMS it may not consider that as a real lost connection, are you able to test the timer method?
We started working in the course, stopped, and waited the full hour. Once the hour was up, we completed the course. I did notice that it did report correctly that the course was completed. We are going to change the line back to false and see what happens.

What about adding the quiz timer to your course?
Thanks! Can the message be customized?

Ok, I tried the method here, but I didn't get a message.

Thanks Sheri for the update
