Setting trigger-points on the timeline
Jul 31, 2012
Hi, folks
I'm sure I've seen this functionality in one of the tutorials, but just can't seem to find it again.
I'd like to be able to "set" trigger-points on the timeline so I can do something like this:
When timeline reaches Trigger-Point #1, change state of character from happy to frowning, play the unimpressed Marge Simpson sound file and fade in black stormcloud over character's head.
I know I can "attach" triggers to other trigger-points. So, in the example above, the fade could act as the trigger-point to which I then tie the change state and play audio file.
However, if I wanted to just, say, have the character on screen with voice-over and have the expression change four times throughout the audio, there are no other triggers to which I can "hook" those state-changes. The only way I can work out how to do it currently is to duplicate the character 4 times and "stagger" them along the timeline.
But that's a bit tedious. So I must be doing something wrong.
If I could "set" trigger-points, I'd then be able to hook all manner of triggers to each of them. It would also make editing the timing easier because instead of having to move several objects on the timeline (which then throws out other things!), I could just move the marker for the trigger-point.
If you could point me in the right direction, that would be awesome.
Thanks very much,
Leslie

Add shapes on the stimeline that end or start at the point you need, then add a trigger on that shape that on timeline end/start
The shape can be offslide but this is the only way to do it at the moment
Heya, Phil
Thanks for the fast reply. That workaround will have to do me for now. Hopefully, this functionality -- while hardly critical -- will be added.
Perhaps I should submit a feature request.
Thanks again.
