Side Menu Fade in
Feb 23, 2018
Hey all!
I am three weeks new to StoryLine and I am in desperate need to figure out how to fade in a menu. Example: if you are on your phone and click a menu icon in the top right corner and the side menu fades in from the right. Yeah, I need to accomplish that effect. I have the screen shot of the screen before the menu fades in and I have the screen with the menu bar fully out. I have tried different effects and got kind of close once. I was using a entrance fade with a motion path, with the image in a hidden state. Another way was just doing a entrance fade but then the image emerges from off the slide and not the "screen" image I have on my base layer. Please, any and all help is greatly appreciated. I have tried reading some other entries but my StoryLine "lingo" is very minimal so a lot of them were confusing.

Hannah,
After someone clicks on a menu item, what do you want to happen to the menu?
I will need it to fade back out and jump to a new layer (that layer will have a new screen shot of that menu item's screen) *if that makes sense*
Okay so I think I got it to work with doing three states!
State 1 is the normal state, when you click the menu icon it goes to State 2 (Menu) which has the screen shot with the menu fully open (it has a entrance animation that I copied in from the timeline that wipes in from the right with a duration of .75 seconds). Now my issues is trying to get a hot spot to work on my Menu state to show State 3 (Settings screen).
Again, if that makes sense (I am awful with explaining things)
Hello Hannah and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
Sounds like you are making good progress.
Did you add a trigger on the hotspot to change the state upon click?
Would you be able to share your .story file so that we could take a look and fully understand?
