I'm developing several courses for the college I work for. We want to have students start a lesson, stop when they want to take a break for five minutes or a week, and when they come back to the lesson it will pick up where they left off. Is that possible in Storyline? I'm thinking I might be able to do something with variables but I'm not sure how to proceed. Any ideas?
Hi Steve - there is a player setting for this. Click the Player tab and then click Other in the Custom section on the tool bar.
There are options for resuming on restart - Prompt on resume will let users decide whether to continue where they left off or restart from the beginning, the Always resume option will force them to continue from where they left off.
Try adjusting the "When revisiting" slide property to "resume saved state." That should take them back to the point where they left off. Here's where to change this:
Just an FYI, I believe scorm will mark a slide complete once it has been viewed in its entirety.
If a slide is 60sec long and a student leaves at the 30sec mark that slide will be incomplete. So, when the student returns they will return at the start of the slide, not the 30sec mark.
Thanks to everyone for their replies. Nancy's post fixed the problem I was asking about, Jill's will help with another question I was going to ask and the information Bill provided about SCORM answers a question that has come up about measuring time on task for students.
Steve, As far as Storyline is concerned the slide is marked complete as soon as you touch it, not when it is completed. This is the same for presenter as well
