Storyline crashes when I access a browser window
Feb 10, 2016
I'm using
- Storyline 1, update 10:1509.1408
- IE 11
- Google Chrome
In the last couple of weeks, Storyline has started crashing whenever I access either IE or Chrome. I usually keep both browsers minimized on the taskbar since many of the applications I work with are web-based.
When I have Storyline open and am viewing and working with a slide, then click either IE or Chrome on the taskbar, Storyline crashes and I have to select the Close the Program option. (Checking online for a solution does nothing.) See attachment for the error message.
Because I frequently need to switch back and forth between Storyline and a browser window, this is causing major issues.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Jennifer J. Williams

No dice, unfortunately, even after I "repaired" Storyline. I did test some other Storyline files and am not experiencing the problem with them. It's just the one file that has the issue. I think it may have become corrupted somehow and am going to just recreate it.
Thanks much!

Hi, Jennifer -- I appreciate the update, and in the event of a corrupt file, there may still be a working version of your project in your temp files. Here's how to check:
1) Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline
2) Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.
3) Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.
4) Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.
Please let us know if there is anything further we might do to assist. :)
