So I just started experimenting with Storyline today... The first thing I did was try to import a large PPT that is a Presenter course... Since I was unsuccessful getting that to work (just froze while importing), I thought well i'll just replicate some of it and play around. When I tried changing the slide background to a picture and apply that to all the slides the program froze... my work was unsaved. So I tried the process again, this time i saved what I had built first then I changed the background. It froze again. One more try... this time it froze even prior to me clicking on the 'apply to all' button. Has anyone else had this problem?
During the submission process, you'll have a chance to record a screencast. Be sure to record one showing the freeze while importing. Then, show what happens when you change the background. Finally, include a copy of your files (in a ZIP) so that we have all of the data necessary to look into the issue.
Thanks Brian. I submitted the case, but the screencast wouldn't launch... I think there's an issue with my Java. I will have my IT dept look into it, to see if some of these issues have to do with my computer. Would I be correct in assuming that Storyline does not have a habit of freezing then?

That's correct. You shouldn't be experiencing any of those issues. You'll hear from our support team soon.
Wow. This issue was reported In MAY and it is still not fixed.
I just downloaded Storyline and tried exactly the same thing. importing a large PPT and it just hangs halfway though.
Then I thought, ok, what if I just import about a dozen slides? Nope. Still hangs.
You know I really would like to buy this, particularly with the special offer for getting Presenter 13 free when you purchase Storyline, but you guys are making it awfully hard to justify shelling out $1400 US for a product that still has a major problem more than six months after you were informed of it.
First, welcome to the community. I'm sorry to hear that you're both experiencing this issue. I did look back at the original issue that Matt was experiencing and it seems like it was resolved.
Brant - I looked to see if you had any open cases regarding this issue, but was unable to find anything. Have you contacted support in the past regarding this problem?
Mark and Brant - First, please make sure you're working with local content. If you're trying to add content from a network drive, USB drive or any other external source it may cause issues. Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate). Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.
Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in this Microsoft article.
If you've confirmed the content is local, please try following the steps outlined in this knowledge base article.
Let us know if you're still experiencing freezing/hanging after taking the steps above.

Hey Mark and Brant!
I'd like to reiterate what Christine shared in regards to working locally, as well as allowing us to help out if you're running into roadblocks. Any issue importing PowerPoint into Storyline should be easily resolved, outside of these limitations.
And just wanted to clarify our special offer: It's not that you'll get Studio '13 for free when purchasing Storyline. Rather, you'll get Studio '13 for free when it releases if you purchase Studio '09 now. Storyline and our Studio software are separate and different products.
Thanks for the quick response. My mistake about the free offer. I read the information incorrectly.
None of the caveats apply to me, and I have carried out all of the trouble-shooting steps on your site for this issue.
None of them worked.
I am, however, pleased to say the issue has been resolved. It disappeared after I rebooted not once, but twice (for entirely different reasons). Not sure why it would take two re-boots to solve the issue, but I am now a happy camper.

Hi Matt,
You shouldn't be running into any of those issues. Can you submit a support case to us?
