Storyline project not working on mobile app
Mar 09, 2016
Hi,
I'm testing our LMS's mobile app and am unable to get the Storyline project to play correctly (details below). The same errors are replicated in cloud.scorm.com. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Program Information
- Created in Articulate Storyline (update 6)
- Checked “Include HTML output”
- Published to SCORM 1.2
Issues
- iPhone 5 (iOS 9): Audio did not work at all
- Android (Galaxy s5): Audio launched on one slide and did not work after; slides appeared blank; resume where you left off pop-up box is blank

To note: I also tried publishing to SCORM 2004, with the same results, and our LMS doesn't support Tin Can API yet. Thanks!
Hi Jessica! Thanks for all of that helpful information. Update 7 for Storyline 2 provided some additional support for Apple iOS9 and Google Chrome 44 and later on Android devices. Go ahead and update your Storyline 2 for future course building.
After updating, you can either republish your course or you can use our course updater tool, especially handy if you have multiple courses that need to be updated. You can update existing published courses on your computer, your website, and even your LMS as described in the article.
Let me know how you make out!
Hi, Crystal,
Thank you for the quick reply! I have Storyline 1 (I probably should have mentioned that initially), but I did check for upgrades and it updated me to 10. I tried creating a course from scratch and publishing again. Encountering the same issues. I attached the zipped file for reference.
Any other ideas are appreciated.
Thank you!
Jessica
Hi Jessica,
I took your published output and loaded it onto my SCORM cloud for testing. I sent myself a link and was able to see the content and hear the audio on my iPhone 5 (9.2.1).

That is the link to my course; could you see if that works on your iOS9 and Android devices?
If it is performing as expected on SCORM cloud, my next thought would be to troubleshoot with the LMS about their mobile app. Since you're up to snuff on the course being updated for Storyline's iOS9 support, it would be prudent to rule out issues on the LMS side of things.
Also, Jessica, you could share your .story file here as well, and we could try to reproduce from the point of publishing for you, too.
Hi,
I was able to play that file on the SCORM cloud from my iPhone just fine! So odd. I'm having a coworker check with her Android device, too. Still having the same issues in our LMS app, though, so I guess that must be the issue. Our contact at the LMS company also tested a similar course to this one in SCORM cloud and said it wasn't working there, so they believe it is a courseware issue...
I attached the story file, too.
Thank you!
Jessica
Storyline 1 doesn't support Android devices only iOS and I expect Articulate do not support your LMS app.
Ah, Phil is right on that one, Storyline 1 doesn't officially support Androids. Good catch! My oversight.
Jessica, I'll go through the process with your .story to see if I produce different results in SCORM. I'll let you know if I do. Keep us posted on the LMS findings; others in the community could surely benefit too!
Hi,
Thank you, both. Does Storyline 2 support Android? Our LMS is through Cornerstone On Demand. I'll search the community blogs, too, to see if there is any further info. on CSOD and Articulate.
Thanks!
Jessica
It sure does. The system requirements for viewing Storyline 2 content include the browsers and operating system information.
Hi,
UPDATE: We recently upgraded to Storyline 2, and the modules do appear to be working on the mobile app - just a little hiccup with the fill-in-the-blank question type, which we're still testing. So that's great news!
I do have another question about dynamic formatting for multiple platforms, but I'll ask that question separately so we can close this topic. :)
Thank you!
Jessica
Thanks for the update, Jessica! Glad to know you're working through it.
