Structure of the published files
Dec 07, 2012
Hi,
I
have my own proprietary LMS, which I believe, is not the same as any
other standard systems. My current .swf content will have its
associated xml, mp3 and flv files, which are located in their respective
folders. I've noticed that after publishing the content on Storyline,
apart from the swf file, there is also an xml file sitting on the same
level as where the swf file is, while the rest of the media and other components
are in the "story_content" folder.
I'm wondering if I could
manipulate the file structure a little bit; for example changing the
"story_content" folder into a different name; change the referred sound
files from, say" 5p1UcNsLgcN_22050_48.mp3" to "apple.mp3", which is
readily available on the "audio" folder in my LMS; or move the sound
files and/or image files to different folders, for instance.
This
feature is very important to me since it will allow the published swf
lesson to "link" with the media files, which are already existing on the
system. This is to ensure the standard of the system as well as to
avoid duplication of the files.
I'd really appreciate if you could help me out with this issue.
thank you.
nai.

I dont believe this would be possible the associations are hard-coded
Hi Nai,
Instead of embedding your media, why don't you reference them as web objects.
Your LMS will surely be on a webserver, so when all your your MP3, flv files... will also be on that server. As an advantage to embedding your media in SL, you can alter it without having to re-publish SL
Would that be an option ?

A good idea, Geert !
hi geert,
thanks for your suggestion. i guess that means on the SL program, instead of "inserting" the media, i should just embed the url to that oarticular media file, right? if that is doable, that sounds like a very good solution! i'm goin to check that out. thx!
