I am trying to develop SL templates for our team. They need to have the correct player size, etc. When I pull the templates into a new project they are not only not keeping the player size but the images are not pulling over with the right size.

What you're describing sounds very similar to a bug we're currently investigating. We found that the Player Size saved in Player templates is not applied when importing the Player into a new project.
With your permission, I'd like to test your template to determine if it's related to this. If that works, click here to share the file privately with me. I'll let you know my findings, and delete it after troubleshooting!
