Test Mode Not Working Properly

I am trying to create a course in which the end user will practice adding an employee in our company's software. I record my screen, where I am clicking and typing in the information. When I set it in "Test Mode", the only thing that comes about from my screen recording is a "hotspot" slide, there is no "data entry" slide. I am not sure why it is not registering the data entries. If anyone can help me figure out what I am doing wrong or help me with an alternative way to add a data entry practice, that would be greatly appreciated.

One thing to check: make sure that both Storyline and the program you're capturing are running with the same permissions....if you are running one as an administrator, you should run both as administrator. Otherwise there are some issues with the step-by-step capture process.
Thank you so much for replying!
How would I go about seeing if I am running as an administrator on Storyline?
I did just update Storyline a couple days ago, and it was acting wacky for one day. The next day, it seemed to be fine, but still acting a little strange.
Hi Anna,
When you open Storyline (or just before actually) instead of clicking on the icon, right click and choose "run as admin" that may be the same for any other programs you're also trying to capture. Also you'll want to make sure you're capturing information on your local drive and not trying to run another application through a server or remoting in to another computer.
I have attached a screen shot of what happens when I right click. There is no option to choose "run as admin"
Hi Anna,
Thanks for sharing that screenshot! If you right click the Storyline app through your Start menu instead of right from the desktop, you should see the option to Run As Administrator. Sometimes it's listed under "more" there.
I finally figured it out, but I am still have trouble having the end user be able to fill out required fields within the website.
Hi Anna! Are you recording actions taken in a Google Chrome window? If so, I would recommend recording the process using a different browser such as Internet Explorer. It tends to gather more information than Chrome as you'll see documented here.
Okay, I used Mozilla Firefox, and it was picking up the text entry! Thank you so much for helping me figure this out!
Great Anna, glad that worked for you! Thanks for popping in with an update :)
