Text Editing from storyline Published folder

Sep 22, 2017

Hi Team,

One Question.

Does storyline supports text editing from the published package?

I have created a course using storyline 3, and its maintenance will be happened at client end. Here, I need to give content changing access to the customer without sharing my source file with them.

I have tried changing the content from path.js file, from which changed content is displaying in output but with bad formatting. Screenshots have been attached for both bad and good formatting.

Is it possible to manage content changing from published build? Any help would be appreciated.

Articulate does not support making changes to the published output. You might consider adding the information as web objects. This would make it easier for the client to make changes to just the webobject file, without the possibility of messing up other code in the course. Let me know if you would like to see an example of this.

It looks like the best way to do this is to set variables within the web object that are then displayed in your course. The one catch with this is that we need to do something special to make sure the font of the variable text is displayed correctly.

See the attached project file and notes below.

1. The Slide Master contains the web object which contains your variable values.
2. The Slide Master also contains a trigger which executes javascript to load the font used to display the variable. Edit the name of the font in the trigger to match the font you use for the variable text. See Matthew Bibby's tutorial here for how that works: https://community.articulate.com/articles/how-to-use-google-fonts-with-variable-references3. After you publish the project and send that published output to your client, they can edit the variable values by editing the index.html under the WebObjects folder of the output.

I've added three variables to the current web object. If you need more than that, you will have to edit the index.html file and add them, and then re-insert the web object into the Slide Master. Please let me know if you need more detailed explanation of any of this.
