If you watch the text in the menu button during the retraction, once the menu itself finishes moving you can see the text do a final motion down.
I don't get why the text continues to move after the rest has finished.
anyone have any idea why?
there are no states on the text. there are no triggers other than the ones that move the group of objects (text, square behind text, large square making up the body of the menu).

Maybe it is because the two motion paths are not exactly the same length; one is 471 px, the other is 474 px
I went back, deleted one path, copied the other, reversed it and then tested it. During preview, the text still acts weird. However, when published it looks fine.
That seems to have fixed it. Thank you!
that's what i get for free drawing the second path instead of just copying it.
Also, do you know if there is a better way to accomplish this? using two motion paths just seems clunky to me. Is there anyway to tell it to follow a path, and then tell it to reverse on the same path?
I usually just duplicate (CTRL+D) a motion path and just reverse its direction. That way I don't have fiddle around trying to align them manually.
Unfortunately, using two paths is the only way to do this.
