Am using Articulate Storyline2. I have been searching for TTS in articulate and came through this site responsivevoice.com where a detailed description of responsive voice for articulate is provided by providing a demo. I followed the instructions but no luck. Am i missing something or it doesnot work as instructed in the demo. Please help me.

Hi Travs! I've seen some other conversations on Text to Speech software, but I am not familiar with this. Hopefully someone in the community will be able to chime in and assist you here.
Thank you Leslie
No worries. Good luck.
Travs,
The code you need for responsive voice needs to be included as a javascript variable on the master slide. As it is javascript it won't work in preview mode - only when published.
Matthew
Thanks Matthew for sharing that here - and as a reminder here are our best practices for working with Javascript.
Hi Travs,
If you have signed up for the free trial here you will have been emailed instructions and a step by step course to add the necessary snippets to your project.
ResponsiveVoice for eLearning supports text to speech across all browsers, but more importantly it is the only solution to support native HTML text to speech in modern browsers on desktop, iOS and Android where it is generated dynamically on the client side, requiring zero bandwidth, there are no pre-generated audio files used which means if you change the slide content the spoken words reflect that instantly.
Being HTML compliant this is not suitable for flash deployments, but now with Firefox having blocked flash completely, I'd say HTML is the only way to fly!
Please let me know if you need any further assistance or have any other questions.
Hello!
I was wondering if anyone was able to get Responsive Voice to work in Articulate? I am having the same issue Travs noted above. I sent them a helpdesk ticket 5 days ago now and haven't heard anything back.
I'd also be interested in hearing what other companies people researched that may be similar to Responsive Voice. All the other TTS options I see out there involve downloading individual mp3 files - this seems to be the only option that is more streamlined, if I could actually get it to work! :p
Hi Christina,
I see you sent a message on Sunday (3 days ago) to support with a sample project file. Our team started looking into your issue on Monday. Please be patient while we investigate the files you supplied.
I am certain they will be able to solve your issue and have your storylines speaking soon!
Kind regards,
Danny
Thanks Danny for updating us here - I wasn't sure if it was our Support team Christina was referring to or not.
Christina, it looks like you're in capable hands but let us know if you need anything else Storyline specific. :)
Hi everyone,
I've been playing with Responsive voice today and when I publish for web is works on our LMS (it's really good).
Unfortunately, the voice will not play when published for SCORM. I've uploaded to our LMS as well as SCORM cloud. Has anyone come across this before?
I've emailed Danny from Learnbrite this morning but I thought I'd reach out to the community as well. What am I doing wrong :)
Hi Angela,
What file types does the media get inserted as? Is it a audio file only? If you'd like to share the .story file here or even one of the sample media files we can insert into a project and test publish as well. You can upload to the forums using the "Add Attachment" button at the bottom of the reply window.
Thanks Ashley, I've heard back from Learnbrite this morning and I've provided them with the .story file.
It's all driven by javascript in the slide master. Here's the file attached for you to take a look at.
Look forward to seeing what you can find.
Thanks Angela for sharing here. I'm unable and unequipped to assist with Javascript triggers, so I'll have to defer to the community for additional assistance as they may be able to check your JS code. Hopefully Learnbrite is able to assist as well!
The JS code was provided by Learnbrite, and all I needed to do was add it into the slide master. I think the code should be ok as it works fine when the course is published for web.
SCORM is the problem here. Let's see what happens from here :)
Thanks Angela for the update - and please certainly feel free to keep us posted here as it may be something of assistance for other users who are looking at setting up a similar environment.
Thanks Ashley, I sure will :)
