I am piloting the text-to-speech audio on a couple of courses. I didn't notice this initially, but when playing the course from the LMS, if I play a page and then click another tab or browser, the course playback stops.
This doesn't happen with a human voice. And it doesn't happen if I switch to Word or Storyline or other applications. Seems to just be the browser.
It's not necessarily a deal-breaker, but it is different behavior.
Actually I just looked at somewhat older courses with regular narration versus two recent ones with TTS. The old ones don't pause. Maybe it's a new feature.
We were seeing a problem in previous versions of Storyline where animation paused when opening a new tab, but audio didn't pause. As you can imagine, that caused all kinds of problems with audio syncing.
To fix this, Storyline now pauses both audio and animation when opening a new tab. If you republish those older files with the latest update of Storyline, you should see this happen.

Hi Amy!
When you switch to a new browser tab, everything on the Storyline slide should pause, including all audio and animations.
Have you noticed that that text-to-speech audio pauses, but a MP4 recorded narration file does not pause?

Ah, that explains it!

Ah, I see. I did republish, and the new version now pauses.
Mystery solved! :)
Thanks.
