I have a picture on my slide that I want to appear when the timeline ends. (It's a next button).
It starts with the state "hidden". and has the object trigger of "Change state to Normal when timeline ends".
Only it never appears.
I did something similar on another slide with it appear at the end of a media (audio) file playing and that worked perfectly.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.
Hi Kita,
Would it work for you to place the picture on a layer, and then on the base layer set up a trigger to show the layer when the timeline ends?

Michele, do you want to upload your story? I just did a quick test and was able to get a button w/an initial state of hidden to normal by clicking either a shape or a group (of shapes).
Not sure if this will show up but I am having a similar issue. I want an arrow to appear pointing at the Next button when the timeline ends. I've set up the states and the trigger and it only works on one slide. Any ideas?
I don't think I can for privacy reasons; also the file is huge. I think I will just leave it out for now. It's just strange that it will only work on one slide.
I have done a sample of three slides with an arrow hidden until timeline ends(2.5secs) then arrow appears to click next. May or may not help you.
Perhaps check states of the image is hidden and then triggers changes it to normal when timeline ends and check trigger order. Hard to say without seeing but I get the confidential thing.
Thanks for this. Yes, the initial state is hidden and the trigger is set to normal. I had it set up the exact same way on every slide, but it only works on one. I'll check out your file and see if there's something I missed.
check how the objects are set on the timeline - are the arrows 'Show until end' - they may be disappearing before the timeline ends then the trigger wouldn't fire.
Please let me know what it is when you find it...if your colleague can't find it you can log a support ticket and upload to Articulate - that is confidential.
I can't remember which project this was but I think I just decided to not do the arrows. However, I have since done one where I included a text box to say "Click next to continue" when the timeline ends and it works for me fine. I have the initial state set to Hidden, then have a trigger to change the state when the timeline ends. It works on every slide.
Do you have any other triggers that could possibly be overriding it? Sometimes Storyline is buggy and doesn't like a lot of triggers.
Thanks Hilary. I've relooked at all the triggers, and added one; set complete equal to False when timeline starts' n the Master slide which seems to have worked. No idea why, but problem solved for now (I hope)

I find you cannot use a timeline end trigger on an object that you change from hidden
Hi Kita,
I'm running into a similar issue: I have a button with the initial state of hidden.
I created a trigger saying "change state of this button to normal when user selects objects"....and the state of the button never changes.
I don't understand because it works in other slides.....I changed the order of the trigger to see but noway.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Hi Phil,
Do you think the trigger doesn't work either when the user clicks an object (or a group).
Thanks

Hi Hiliary
do you want to upload the .story file - easier for someone to help you if they can see your setup

Yes, I have it showing until the end and there are no animations attached to it. It just won't show up for some reason.
I double checked and I have it set up exactly the same way as you have in the sample you gave me.
There isn't an object over the top of the arrow is there? Sorry clutching at straws now.
Nope - nothing over it. I'll ask someone in the office here and see if they can help. Thank you so much for trying!

Good luck
Thank you - will do!
Hi Hilary - did you find the solution to this? I am having the exact same trouble, it works on one slide but not all.
Thanks
