I have a button on my master slide that I want it to toggle opening/closing the menu (table of contents). Is there a way to do this or workaround for this functionality?
Thanks @Cary! I have that set up already and I'd like to have a button on my master slide toggle opening and closing the TOC rather than the learner clicking it to open it.
I don't know if you can toggle the PLAYER menu with a button on the master slide. Perhaps experienced heroes may have a solution.
However the workaround that I use is use create your own menu on a slide layer, and have the button on the master slide toggle this slide layer. Like this sample here.
@Jiju - I was thinking that may be an option but didn't know how to set it up with the master slide. I will definitely look into that and get back to you!
You won't be able to trigger elements on the player set up, such as to open/close the menu - so if Jiju has an example using his own custom menu, I'd look further into setting up something similar.
I've attached a mock-up I produced a while back. The menu is animated and slides on and off the screen. The entire menu is built on the slide master and should be easy to adapt.
I don't know if Jiju is still subscribed to this thread, but the master slide elements will be the elements at the back of the slide and everything sits on top of that. Were you able to take a look at the example that Mark shared to see if that would work for your needs?
How can we do it if the menu button on the master is hidden by a photo on a slide? Actually all my slides have pictures that take all the space, so nothing is showing from the master.
Can I still call a layer from a master with a button?
I think it's confirmed by a friend: I can't use a button on a master if a picture is hiding this button in the slide. So I'll have to create a menu for each slide that has a picture...

Hi Katie,
I just figured this out. Click on the "Player" button.
Now select the Menu and then click the up arrow until it is on the "Topbar Left" tab.
Looks like Cary is assisting you here Katie, just let us know if you need anything further.
Here is a tutorial if you would like to take a look as well.

Do you think that's possible?
Thanks for the tutorial, @Leslie!
Hi Katie,
I haven't been able to figure out a way to do that. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to trigger the menu remotely.

@Jiju,
Do you have a .story file so I can see how it's set up?

Best of luck with your project.
Hi Katie,
Attached is the template. Let me know if this works for you.

Hope this is of use.
Thanks Mark and Jiju for both of those examples.
how did you do this? when I tried putting a button on the master to open my custom menu it was hidden behind the content on the pages.

Hi Nicole,
Make sure you do not have any transparency on that Menu Block.
Hi Nicole,
I would echo Ashley's advice. If you are still having challenges, please upload the story file, and we can take a look at it.

Hi Helene!
This thread is a bit dated and I'd love to take a look at your .story file to understand what you are seeing here.
