Unable to Duplicate/ Copy slides

Dec 11, 2012

Hi,

I am unable to duplicate slides, copy slides and insert slides from other Storyline modules.  I have reported the error via the automatic error box that comes up every time - but have not heard from you guys.

Please help, as this issue is causing me more and more problems.

kind regards,

Beata

Hi Beata,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having! First, just a quick note about the error reports: the error reports that you submit actually go to QA for investigation, support cases are not opened when those error reports are submitted. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

First, check to make sure that the content you're trying to import is local content. Here's some more information:

If you are experiencing unexpected issues using Articulate software, here are some tips for managing your files which can help prevent issues.

1.  Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.

2. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).

3.  Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa365247(VS.85).aspx

If you've confirmed that the files you're importing are on your hard drive, can you give me a little more information, please? What's the exact error you're receiving?

Thanks very much Beata,

Christine

Hi Christine,

All my files are on the local drive.

The screens I’m unable to Duplicate/Copy are the Storyline Screens that have been recorded e.g. ‘step-by-step’ recording of a process.

(I can Duplicate other screens – e.g. the ones created in PowerPoint fashion)

Hope that’s enough... (error pic enclosed)

Rgds,

 Beata

Good morning Beata,

Thanks very much for the additional information. Please follow the steps outlined in this article

Hopefully the steps in that article will resolve the problem for you. However, if you still see this error message when you try to duplicate the slides please submit a support case with our technical department. They'll be able to take a closer look at what's going on. If you can, please share your case number with me. I'll be able to follow the case progress and update this thread.

Thanks!

Christine
