This is just more of a general observation, and wondering if anyone else has encountered this... After working in the same project for a few hours the "Undo" button stops functioning properly... it will no longer "undo" my last action but an action from, say, 10 clicks ago.
The undo function was a booger during the beta. I've conditioned myself to avoid using it You might submit that as a support request for update in a future point release.
LOL good to know. thanks for the tip! It seems to work fine for awhile, and then when I notice it stops working I usually close and re-open the project.. I think i'm too far gone to un-condition myself from using the undo button lol
Yeah, I've noticed the same thing. It's incredibly frustrating. This morning it decided to undo an hour's worth of work, and because the buttons don't function properly, there's no way to get it back- the redo button has the same problems the undo does. AWESOME.
As Steve mentioned, this was a serious problem during the beta and we were all extremely frustrated. The work around that has worked for me is as follows:
Save often and ALWAYS save prior to clicking undo. This sounds crazy, but it works. Storyline will still allow you to undo after you save. If undo causes you to time-warp a couple hours back after saving and redo causes you to go into a black hole somewhere, then at least you have a backup of where you just were before hitting undo and you can now manually make the changes.
If you are like me and use the keyboard shortcuts, then your new shortcut is CTRL-S, CTRL-Z.
I really hope they resolve this issue in the next release!!!!
I also only use undo to only go back the last 1-5 steps of what I've done. Beyond that, as Steve and Eddie mentioned, I'm "beta-blocked" with undo. Don't wanna tempt fate . . .

Thanks for the tip Eddie. Good to know that it always works if you save first. I DO use keyboard shortcuts all the time so Ill need to train myself on the CTRL s, CTRL z trick.
Yeah, it is extremely hard to remember - especially if you are jumping between programs. I taped a thumbtack upside down on the z key to train myself. This was not as helpful as one might think, so I don't recommend that approach.
Hopefully this will be resolved in the next release.
Bruce, are you allowed to share your alternatives? Or is this a family-friendly forum
TX to Nicole for bringing this up and to others for confirming. Thought it was me...you know, the old saw from tech support "user error." Glad to know it's not!
No updates yet, but I know it's something our developers are aware of. Make sure you've enabled the "Check for updates at startup" feature in Storyline to be notified when new updates get released.

The random undo functionality is my favorite Storyline feature.
Just think of it as "The Excitement Suite".
Storyline CTRL-Z - "Where would you like to go today?"
The more graphics/graphical manipulation you do, the more unexpected excitement you can expect from SL CTRL-Z. In my opinion and experience.
Sometimes it will even jump to a Scene that you finished with some time ago.
'Waddya want? Perfection?
Bruce
PS - can we please add "It's a booger" to the SL functionality matrix?
Whew . . . I was just afraid that Bruce the Brave Brit would beg to use "bollocks" instead--or some other "bug-related" term.
If it does not get fixed I have several alternatives to "booger"....

Any updates on the status of fixing the Undo feature?
