Variable troubles :(
Nov 07, 2013
HI Everyone,
I'm struggling with variables (never ever my strong point). I would like to make sure that users click my marker before they continue on to the next slide... however i finally got my layer to show up at the right time - but now i can't get the next button to work - this is all on the first slide. Again being so green i'm sure i missed something silly - any feedback is always appreciated. I have attached my presentation for review.
Thanks!!
Christina

Hi Christina,
Just took a quick peek. All you need to do is change the trigger for Marker shape 1 so it says:
Action: Adjust variable
Variable: Nav
Operator:=Assignment
Value: Value True
When: user clicks
Object: Marker Shape 1
Hi Christine,
You have one mistake in your trigger codes. The first trigger you created on "Marker Shape 1" states the following: SetNav equal to the value of Nav when the user clicks. What you need to have happen here is SetNav equal to true. See the screen grab below:
Thank you both!! I'm learning!!!
variables and i have a love hate relationship!
Hi Christina,
I'm glad that Becky and Michael were able to assist you here, and I certainly understand the love hate relationship! I bet we all started out that way.

Hey Christina...Ashley's right about that relationship with variables...but the love side, at least for me, has increased over time, so there's hope
Christina - I recently did a webinar on Storyline variables. I explain what are variables and how each of the types of variables in Storyline function. I posted it on YouTube if you wanna check it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXl5mBn6tZA
