Variables not working

Pulling my hair on this one.

I am trying to set up a course so when the user reaches a slide and click on a shape, it'll return to the initial slide and show layer 1. If the user clicks on another shape, it'll return to the initial slide and show layer 2 instead.

I have two variables, start and end, and I've set them to have an initial state of False.

Each shape has a trigger that changes the value of each variable to True

the original slide has two variables. One that says "show layer1 if start is true when timeline starts" and another that says the same with layer 2 and variable end.

No joy. What am I missing?

Have attached a test file so you can see exactly what I am doing.

Hi Paco,

I have looked at your project and there are a few things to look at.

First of all, on the second slide, the triggers to jump to slide are place before the change to the variable.

In Storyline, triggers' order is very important. Since you jump to the other slide first, the variable change cannot be completed.

Just change the order of the triggers.

Then, you need to set back both variables to False when the user reaches the second slide so, if they want to try it more than once, both variables will be looked at. Still has to do with the order of your triggers.
