Videos not playing from Sharepoint?
Jan 20, 2016
Hi everyone,
I have a short course with a couple of videos in Storyline 2 and I'm having some trouble. When I put the .wmv videos directly into the course, they were too big for our LMS (SumTotal's Maestro), so I tried splitting them into three separate courses, and they were still taking over 90 seconds each to load directly from the course.
Next I tried putting the course in the LMS and putting the all videos on Sharepoint and using the embed code to link to the videos. Better, but we're getting very spotty results. Sometimes we have to log in to view, sometimes we don't. Sometimes the videos load immediately, sometimes they just hang there. I can't see a pattern or cause.
I'm publishing to LMS, SCORM 2004, 4th ed.
I'm reluctant to use YouTube or Vimeo because our agreement with the presenter is that we'll only share the videos with staff, so I'm hoping to find a Sharepoint solution.
Has anyone else been successful in getting videos to play from Sharepoint in this way? Or any ideas why it might be behaving erratically?
Thanks!

Hi Jennifer,
Have you already checked into the issues outlined here to ensure those aren't impacting your situation with Sharepoint? I'd begin there and if those all check out, then I'd also look at uploading to another site just to confirm where the issue lies - if you're looking for options you may want to look at one of the options mentioned here. If everything behaves as expected in those sites as well, then I'd defer to the community and Sharepoint's support for additional information.
Thank you, yes, I had seen those and I don't believe they apply (I'm using .wmv files and a .zip to upload to the LMS). It might be Sharepoint. Thanks.
No problem Jennifer - and if you're able to reach out to your LMS team at Sharepoint they may be able to assist. You could also look at comparing it in SCORM Cloud as that's an industry standard for testing LMS content and may then help narrow down where the issue is.
