Videos not playing once .story file is published
Nov 22, 2016
I have a slide with 3 slide layers. On the base layer, there is a hotspot that when clicked once, twice, and three times, layer 1, 2, and 3 will show the corresponding layer's mp4 video. When viewed in the SL2 player, it plays just fine. When the file is published and I view the HTML5 output, it doesn't show these videos at all. There are no flash components in the videos or the activity, so I can't pinpoint the issue. Can someone help?
Edit: Oddly enough, when I jump from the Chrome tab (that has my HMTL5 course's videos) to another Chrome tab and back to the tab that has my course, it plays just fine. However, when I stay on that Chrome tab, it doesn't show the videos at all.

Hi Vanessa,
That's definitely odd behavior, let's figure out what's going on here. Are you viewing the content locally in Chrome, by chance? If so, you may be running into security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, or network that are interfering with your videos. You'll want to make sure you're uploading it to the environment it's published for to properly test it. For instance, if you're Publishing for Web then uploading the published output to a web environment, such as Tempshare, will be the best way to ensure it's functioning accordingly.
If you're uploading the published content to it's published environment and still seeing this in Chrome, would you mind sharing your .story project file here so I can do some testing? You can add it as an attachment right to a comment in this thread. Thanks! :)
Thanks for your help, Ali. I've uploaded to my company's environment that it was published for and it's demonstrating the same issues.
I'm hesitant to attach the course since this is for my company, but if there's a private, secure way I can get it to you I'll be happy to send it.
Sure thing, Vanessa! You can share it privately with our Support Engineers by way of this form. If you let me know your case number once submitted, I'll be sure to keep an eye on it and relay relevant details back here for anyone that may be following along.
I just submitted a case for this. Here's the number 00957789
Thanks for sharing that Vanessa! You should be hearing from someone soon.
Just popped in to check on your case and it looks like this is an issue that our QA Team is looking into.
For any future users who have this problem, this is what the QA Team relayed to me. There is helpful workaround!
"We have reviewed your project file and we were able to duplicate the issue. It appears to be happening when you add videos in your slide layer, the video doesn't play automatically. I have submitted your case to our Quality Assurance team for their review. As a workaround, I would suggest to add trigger on each slide layer that will play the media when the timeline starts. "
So for those experiencing playback issues with video and/or audio, add a trigger to that slide layer: Play Media...Media Name...When Timeline Starts...Layer Name
Thanks for sharing Vanessa :)
