May 15, 2013

Hi ,

Can anyone who has came across the following issue please advice me .

I have embedeed a mp4 video into storyline using web object. When I publish the output and run story.html in chorme it runs the videos perfectly however the same story file does not run the mp4 video into firefox, IE it comes up with MIME type error message and then displays the quicktime logo.

The video runs fine on its own in all the borwsers.

Can anyone please guide me in the right direction.

any help appreciated.

Hi Rebecca,

Thanks for your reply.

I have not tried this because the videos plays fine if run directly in the browser (all browsers). It only comes up with mime type error when using web objects in storyline. This suggests that its not a problem with mime type but some other setting in storyline.or player or limitation of web object feature. Right now I am not getting any clue how to resolve this.

I will add the screenshot of the message I get when the course is run in IE

Hi there Ganesh,

It's recommended that you view projects in their intended environment, especially those that contain web objects. Web objects cannot be previewed in Storyline and if you view the published output locally, you'll run into problems with browser restrictions, etc.

If you view published Storyline content on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.
To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the following article for details:
If you run into the same problems after uploading the course to a web server or LMS, please let us know.
Thanks!
