When previewing the audio file (.wav), it sounds scrambled.

Jan 21, 2014

I added an audio file (.wav) to my Storyline project and when I preview the audio, it sounds very scrambled and is just noise rather than what the actual sound file is.

Are there limitations to the file type or size of audio files?  I've imported other .wav files before and they sound fine.  These files have been much smaller and just short sound clips whereas this file is much larger.

Any ideas on why this is sounding so terrible?

Thank you!

Good Afternoon, Kate.

Although Articulate Storyline supports a wide range of audio file formats, not all codecs and bitrates are supported.  Based on the issue you are reporting, I'd recommend following the tutorials within this Knowledge Base Article to convert your audio files to 16 bit 44 KHZ PCM WAV for best results.

Please let us know if you need anything else, and have a great day!

Thanks, Justin, I'll try this out.

Just a side note, I received the “Unsupported audio file or bitrate." message when trying to import new audio and when I clicked on the hyperlink to "Learn more about supported audio formats..." it brought me to a page that no longer existed.  http://www.articulate.com/ipc/redir/sl1/help/en/Audio-Formats.html

It looks like the knowledge base article would have done the trick for me and perhaps it should replace the older link.

Thanks again!
