Wrong characters in storyline course
Jan 21, 2013
Hello Community!
I'm preparing a course for one of my customers.
I can see the content of the course correctly, using Firefox and Explorer, on two different PCs with Windows 7 and on a Mac with Firefox.
Till last week, my customer was able to see the content correctly (on a PC running Windows XP), but today he sees strange characters.
I attached the correct example and the wrong one: see below.
IMHO, the issue is related to a wrong character encoding, in the Flash player.
Do you have any advice on how to avoid this issue?
Thanks for your attention
Best regards
stefano

Hi Stefano,
That certainly is strange. So, you're not seeing the issue on your end at all, correct? Just the customer? Do you know what browser and what version of Flash they're running?
They can find their Flash version, here. If they haven't already, have them install the latest version.
Are you able to share a link to the course, so I can do a few browser tests?
Thanks!
Thanks Christine for you answer.
I sent the link in a PM, due to the confidential nature of the topic.
Regards.
I forgot to tell you:
- the weird characters appear in all the content, but in the menu
- the example I reported is titled "Esempio: telefonata da un gestore"
Keep in mind, the menu navigation is blocked: you've got to skip slides till that one to see the real thing.

Hi Stefano,
Thanks for the additional information and I got the new link you just sent, as well
I've tested this in:
Google Chrome Version 24.0.1312.52 m
Internet Explorer Version 10.0.9200.16466
Mozilla Firefox Version 18.0.1
Everything looks good for me. I took a look at most of the content, especially section 7 "Esempio: telefonata da un gestore". It looks like this may be system-specific. If the user still has trouble viewing this, maybe they could try viewing it in a different browser to see if they still have the same issue (assuming they've already checked and updated Flash).
Thanks!
Thanks Christine for your suggestion.
Tomorrow I'll have the customer test on a different browser and check the Flash version.
I'll keep you updated
Have a nice evening

Sounds good, Stefano!
I hope you have a great evening, as well.
