I am designing a user choice course that leads back to a main slide. I want the audio to play just the first time the slide is visited, and then not play when they return to it.
I assume you are using Stoyline. Have a look at this example here and see if that's waht you want. If yes, I can dig up the source file and post it here.
David: My Articulate crashed at work so it may be a few days. Let me know if you are in a hurry and I will carve out some time over the weekend to see what's up.
Create a return button on your layer and apply a "Stop Media" trigger on this button that takes them back to the base slide where the audio file lives. The target of the Stop Media will be that audio file. Naming your audio file "base audio" helps you quickly identify it.
There is another way by using variables. You can set playing media on condition of variables equal to truth when timeline starts the slide. And adjust the value to false when timeline ends the slide or when media is completed. So the audio will only play at the first time since the variables will change after then.

Michael,
Thanks so much. I would greatly appreciate the source file.
see attached.
Micheal that is so helpful! Thanks.
How did you get this to work? I tried this with my project and it does not work.
Can you share your .story file here?
Hi David: I have not put it in my file yet but I will send it to you once I play around in there.
Thank you!!

If you can use one slide with layers this works:
Create a return button on your layer and apply a "Stop Media" trigger on this button that takes them back to the base slide where the audio file lives. The target of the Stop Media will be that audio file. Naming your audio file "base audio" helps you quickly identify it.
That's ok. I wonder if it is not working because my main menu is in a different scene than the other slides. Thank you!!
I *KNEW* there was a way to do this. Thanks Rebecca! Can I apply that to a master slide then?

And adjust the value to false when timeline ends the slide or when media is completed. So the audio will only play at the first time since the variables will change after then.
