Draw a diagram & animate it to explain the diagram?

Dec 14, 2012

Hello,

Can anyone suggest any free tools to 'animate' a diagram so as to explain it?

I want to add an animated diagram (with voice I think) to a webpage. The diagram is explaining the different routes a student can take to gain credits on different courses. I know I could just animate this in powerpoint and record in Camtasia. Does anyone know of any other free tools I could use?

Have currently got Articulate Studio.

Thanks

Sue

Sorry Sue, I have Storyline on the brain!

If you have Studio, you can accomplish this with Presenter. Use on-click animations in power point, and sync them to your audio. Make sure all of your slides are set to advance automatically, and set your player options to remove all of the tabs and the navigation buttons.

When you publish to .swf, it will play like a standalone movie that you can embed into your webpage. We've used this for short vignettes to highlight recognition pieces or accomplishments during town-hall type meetings.

Not sure what kind of diagram you're creating but maybe create a Prezi and then screen record the Prezi as it's playing while recording audio using Camtasia? (adding audio natively to Prezi is not supported sadly and the workaround for this is a real PITA)

Here's a diagram example done in Prezi I found with a quick Google search: http://prezi.com/qadddhti3qdu/all-of-physics-in-one-diagram/
