Getting around the unsupported triggered animation effects
Oct 27, 2011
Good day, I am building my first course in Articulate and after building a nice interaction with triggered animation effects, found out that it is not supported.
What I am trying to achieve is have a main page with three full coloured pictures. The user then has the option to click on any of the pictures to view the content (which runs over multiple screens). At the end of that section's content, they are then hyperlinked back to the page with the three pictures. I then want the picture they clicked to be grey out, with the remaining pictures available in full colour. The difficult part is that I don't want to force them to do this in a linear fashion, I want them to be able to click any pic, see the content, and then when they are back at the main page to see only the remaining pics in colour, with the ones they already selected greyed out.
I tried the Engage interaction with tabs, but don't know how or if you can have the content for each tab to run over various slides, depending on selections within the first slide.
Any workarounds or suggestions?

Hello Heidi and welcome to the community.
You're question is a good one that's been asked before. The typical response is to use a combination of "duplicate" PPTslides with hyperlinks and Articulate's slide option branching features. It's farily straightforward with just two paths to choose from; three would require more nav slides to account for all the possible combinations.
Create the following "duplicate" PPT nav slides with the bold capitals being active hyperlinks:
Use hyperlinks in PPT to send them down the path, then on the last slide of that content string, use Articulate's branching options to send them back to the appropriate Nav slide that reflects where they've come from.
It requires some planning and care, but it can be done.
Hope this helps,
Bob
Heidi as you only have three choices Bibs suggestion will work. I would plan it out. If you are tracking by slide you will need to calculate how many slides constitutes a completed course.
The other option is to build in some flash variable, if you have access to flash, I can give you some swfs that will do this, but you will need to be able to edit a flash file
example here check out slide 8
@ Bob, it definitely sounds like that will work, I will be trying it on Monday and will let you know how it goes, it sounds quite do-able
@ Phil, that is exactly what I want to do! I have flash but don't know how to use it...I've read the manual and can do some basics, but would almost need step by step instructions :-( However, I would like to also try your swfs if that is possible? I am quite keen to get to know Flash better!
Heidi, its really easy just a quick edit of some action script (two words) I will send you a link on monday, I have left the office now
