Is there a way to combine quizzes with scores given by tutors?

Jul 31, 2012

Hi all!

I'm investigatig a way to score 1 student with different tools:

  • quizzes in Quizmaker (or Storyline, I'm not sure about this at this stage)
  • scores given by tutors once they read a short essay students have to write

I have 2 questions on this:

  1. I can set the 66% of the total score with the quiz, but still, if teachers give a score in the LMS (Moodle), how can I take this all to deliver just one mark that comes from the 2 sources?
  2. Could I register the essays written by students on a Fill in the Blank question and then have this recovered so tutors can read and score it?

I'm not even sure if I'm asking something related to Articulate or to the LMS.

Anyway, I'd really appreciate any suggestions or workarounds about this.

Thank you very much!!

Hi Belen - Sorry for the slow response on this question.

Question #1

I think what you're asking is more LMS related. You can import a Quizmaker quiz into Storyline and then track both the Quizmaker and Storyline quizzes, with results, in your LMS.

But any LMS-based graded quizzes or questions will need to be managed from your LMS and not Storyline or Studio. So, you can pass your Storyline/Studio scores to your LMS, but your LMS reporting will need to aggregate both the scores to generate one final score.

If Moodle lets you create a learning event that contains multiple sub-events (course, LMS-based question, etc) then I would think generating a single score for that event is possible. I'm not familiar enough with LMS management to know how that would work.

Question #2

Learner responses to fill in the blank questions can be tracked and recorded in the LMS for tutors to review. If you'd like to see how that works, I can put a simple demo together and publish to Articulate Online so you can see how the answers are recorded.

Hi David,

Thank you for your answer.

Ok, as I was afraid, this is more related to the LMS than to any Articulate product; anyway, you've given me more than a clue.

I appreciate you offer of putting a demo together but before you do anything I should test these things in my own LMS.

So thanks again for your answer, if I find something "special" or worth being known, I'll let you know.

Thank you!!

Belen
