Randomise scenario responses

Mar 23, 2015

Hi,

I'm building a branching scenario which is an interaction between a manager and employee. I'm wanting to give participants a range of different responses to their questions rather than the same response each time they go through the course.

Is there anyway to randomly select the slide the participant will be sent to based on the button they select.

For example, on slide 2.1 the manager has the option of choosing from saying:

  1. How is work going?
  2. Do you have any problems?
  3. Why aren't you meeting these targets?

If they selected #1 rather than always being directed to slide 2.2 they could be randomly sent to 2.2, 2.3 or 2.4

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Matthew

Hi Matthew,

What about putting each of the question responses on a separate slide and then putting those slides into a question bank?

For example, Q1 might have three responses so create a three slide Q bank that draws a response randomly. The repeat this for questions 2 and 3.

So for your above example there would be 3 questions and three question banks (one for each) - although in this case they'd be response banks!

Let me know if this works.

Cheers,

Matt

Thanks Matt.

That's a great idea. I have built the question banks but having trouble getting the randomisation working.

Testing the slides in preview mode I'm always getting the same slide appearing when I go back to test again. If I use the replay button in preview mode the options are randomised.

What do I need to do to get the slide to reset itself? They are all set to 'resume to initial state'

Thanks,

Matthew
