Shape Creation in PP 2010

Jan 11, 2012

I was watching a Learning Mag webinar where Tom was the presenter from August 2010.  In it, Tom talked about taking two different PP shapes and joining them to make a new shape or a cutout.  His screen showed part of the toolbar to do this that I'm not able to find.  Can anyone help me out?

Hi Joyce

The Combine Shapes option doesn't appear as a standard toolbar, but PowerPoint 2010 allows you to create your own custom toolbars/ribbons:

  1. Got to File > Options > Customise Ribbon
  2. In the Right Drop Down (Customise the Ribbon) select Tool Tabs
  3. Select Format (under Drawing Tools)
  4. Click the New Group button at the bottom
  5. In the Left Drop down select All Commands
  6. Scroll down to Combine Shapes
  7. Click on the ADD button in the centre
  8. Right click on the New Group and rename to something cool like Combine Shapes
  9. Click on OK to save

This will now appear whenever you have shapes on your slide
