Show Layer - Have image appear on base layer after mouse out
Nov 24, 2015
Hello all!
I have an image on the base layer and there are two areas on the image that I want different layers to appear on hover. I can do that of course no issue. On mouse out, to have a visual that hey you were successful and viewed X, I want an image of that thing to appear on the base layer.
So I have tried a few things and so far no deal. I tried hiding the image on the base layer. Great fine. Now the trick is how do I get it to show on mouse out.
I created a variable show. I tried using true/false and then adding a value.
I set the spot that you hover over to 0. On hover, a value of 1 is added to the variable and I unchecked the box that says "restore at mouse leave." I moved that trigger above the show layer trigger.
I used a variable to hide the image on the base layer when the timeline starts. I want it to show on the base layer on mouse out.
I added a change state trigger to change the state to normal if the variable's condition is equal to 1.
This is a no go. Any ideas? What am I missing? Or is this a pipe dream?

Have a look at the attached and see if that's what you wanted.
Hi Alanda,
Good question. I went ahead and downloaded and looked at your Storyline file. You actually don't need a variable to accomplish this, so I deleted all that stuff. Here's what I did...

Take a look at the Storyline file and let me know if that works for you and/or if you have any questions.
THANKS!

I do not want the nose to show initially. I only want it to show after the layer has displayed. I need it to be hidden first. How do I get it to display only after the nose layer displays?
That is exactly what I am looking for it to do! Now I gotta go look and see how you did it! Thanks dude!
Happy to help, Alanda! Let me know if you have any other questions!
I now have both images appearing exactly as I want. I did not think about putting a trigger on the layer. GUR! In the future, this will remind me to have this consideration. Always a learning process. Now onward I go to the rest of this CBT. I really appreciate it!
