When I add my perfect sounding narration (mp3) file into the Articulate audio editor, I get this weird phasing sound, like I have the slightest of lisps when I preview and publish it in Articulate. Any ideas as to what is causing this?
My equipment: I record on a new iMac using Audacity, and as I said the original mp3 file sounds perfect. Perhaps I should try wav format?
Check you Audacity presets. There was recently a forum here talking about presets and if your presets are off, I would not be surprised if that's the issue. Anyway it's just a thought.
I'm a neophyte when it comes to recording, but I should be able to figure out how to monkey with compression rates in Audacity. But here's the thing -- I was doing some troubleshooting last night and decided to record directly into the Articulate audio editor and I was getting the same phasing quality. Is there a way to change the compression rates in the Articulate audio editor? Thanks so much. --Dan
Hi, James: The phasing happened with a previous mic as well. I've done some sleuthing and people are suggesting that I export the Audacity files as .wav and that might help the overly compressed mp3 issue. I'll let you know how I solved it. Thanks for your help.
Yeah, WAV is the preferred format. But I can't help but notice you received the same issue when recording DIRECTLY into the Articulate Audio Editor. So, I don't think the issue is WAV vs mp3 here. It seems to be something a bit deeper. Are you using the default optimization settings or have you put in a custom Quality setting?
It ended up being an audio bitrate issue. I fixed it by setting the audio bitrate settings higher. I found these settings under "presentation options." Thank you so much for helping me through this. --Daniel

Hey Dan,
What are the compression rates on your mp3 file?

I'm wondering if it isn't you microphone. What happens when you use a different mic?

I haven't messed with the settings. I'll take a look and see if there's a setting that might be helpful for me to tweak. Thanks.
