Course won't import
Aug 27, 2019
We built a course in Rise and I'm trying to import it into our LMS. It will not import. I'm getting a message "Package Error... SCORM package is not a valid zip file. Unable to extract files".
As far as I can tell I'm doing the same thing I've done for every other Rise course I've imported and the make up of the zip files looks to be the same. I even tried to upload another Rise course and it worked fine. I don't know what to do to get this in a format I can load.
Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure if this is related to your problem, but others that have seen this error message found that they had attachments embedded in the Rise course with very long file names.
As I recall, using shorter file names and re-embedding solved the problem.
Thanks for your quick response. I'll look into that.

If you're still stuck, Rosemary, feel free to privately share your output with us here, and we can have a look!
Thanks. I tried what someone recommended, shortening the attachment names, and that seemed to work.
I do have another question, maybe you can help me with. Once I got this course to upload and looked at it in my LMS, it displayed the front page with the Start button. When I clicked on the Start button I got a blank screen. I went back into Rise and Previewed it and got the same blank screen. I tried to click on Edit in the modules to see if it would let me in; it let me in some modules and not others.
I did not create this training, a co-worker did. She gave me admin rights to I could import it into the LMS. When it didn't work for me in Articulate, I asked her to look at it and she said it was fine.
Do you have any idea why it would behave differently for the 2 of us?
Thanks

Sure thing! Are you seeing the blank page in a particular browser? You can check out this article about seeing a blank course in Internet Explorer. You'll want to be sure you're not editing in IE as well.
If that's not the case, though, let us know!
I use Chrome for building and editing, so that is what I was using when I looked at it in Articulate.
IE is the browser used by most folks in the company and it is what they launch our LMS with. So, when they are taking the course they are in IE.
We have IE 11.

Hi Rosemary,
If Compatibility View is enabled in Internet Explorer 11, and you are still seeing a blank course in that browser, we'll want to take a closer look.

I just tried again and this time it displayed properly.
