Cool feature. You said in the video that the "ever present" exit button communicates to the LMS that the learning is done. It still respects the completion criteria that you have already set, correct?
How is this feature different from the trigger options in Storyline? I regularly add an Exit Course link to my player or a button on my summary screen. Was this not an option at all in Rise?
The exit course feature wasn't available when Rise first launched in November 2016. So it's a new feature available now that will function similarly to what you had used in Storyline before.
Hope that helps and let us know if you need anything else!
At the moment, a re-launched Rise course will always reach out to the LMS and ask for the suspend data needed to resume the learner's previous attempt at the course (in contrast to Storyline, where you have a few other options).
Some Learning Management Systems have features that will allow you to force a new attempt on the learner after completion, thereby declining to provide the suspend data needed to resume.
Are you having any difficulty with your course not resuming ?
No worries Cynthia! Looks like your email signature came through when you replied via email! No worries, this Peek video will show you how to remove it.
This function is not working for me, both the button in blocks and the link which is always visible in the right upper corner. Can there be a reason why?
The buttons don't do anything. I exported the file as a SCORM 1.2 file and uploaded it in my LMS surrounding. I turned the 'Exit Course Link' option in the export settings ON. But when I try the exit buttons, nothing happens. I expected the window to close.
I'm not seeing that behavior in my brief test. Check out my published course here. The Exit Course buttons closes the browser as expected for me. What behavior do you see?
I'm not sure how long ago your course was exported, but we did have an issue that was corrected on May 24.
If it was prior to that date, you should be all set to re-export your course and have it work as expected. Let me know if you run into any issues.
Thank you for helping me out. Now we know, because of your brief test, that the problem is not because of Rise but it's in our academy. So we have to look for a solution there. Thanks!
The Exit Course button is currently for LMS only. Could you tell us more about how you would like to use this feature outside of a LMS here in a feature request? Thanks for sharing your ideas!
Menno, I have a Free Trial of Rise, checking out how we might utilize it in our training and the Exit Button is displayed but does nothing when clicked. I'm exporting as SCORM 1.2 and loading it into our Successfactors LMS, also not getting course completion credit either. I have it set to 90% in the export settings. Did you find out why your Exit Button didn't work?
Hi there, Tim. I'd be happy to try to help you out, too!
If you can share your Rise export, I can give it a test in SCORM Cloud to see how it behaves. SCORM Cloud is the neutral LMS testing engine that we use to help troubleshoot issues.
Use the Add Attachment button to upload the zip file here. Or you can use this form if you need to keep your content private. Put my name in the comments, if you do!
Hi, When using Storyline our LMS requires that we use window.top.close javascript or modifying configuration.js to ALWAYS_CLOSE_TOP to successfully close the tab.
As the Rise exit button is not closing the tab, I'm assuming the default is ALWAYS_CLOSE, is there a way to modify this or any suggestions?
What LMS are you using? I know myself and a few others have tested it in SCORM Cloud where it does close the course window/tab where Rise is displaying. Have you already reached out to your LMS team about the behavior as well?
We use TOPYX and no I haven't contacted them about it, if using the Rise Exit button we get a page with 'Thank you for exiting the content. You may now navigate away from this content.' displayed, If we exit by closing the tab it goes back to the LMS with out an additional page.
The same behavior was happening with material produced in Storyline until I used window.top.close javascript or modified the configuration.js to ALWAYS_CLOSE_TOP.
Therefore I assume the Rise exit button is using ALWAYS_CLOSE, which doesn't work with our LMS.
I checked with a member of our team, and there isn't an option to modify this right now. We use sites like SCORM Cloud as a standard to determine if it's working as it should and the exit behavior does currently work in SCORM Cloud.
I'd suggest reaching out to TOPYX, and we'd be happy to talk with them as well - feel free to send along this link to have them connect with our Support Engineers.

That's correct, Gregory.
That's pretty sweet Adam!

If they stop early will it send back info to remember where they left off - as was the case from Storyline 2?

I have not attempted it yet - but will be testing - just didn't see that addressed in the thread of conversation

Hi Menno,
The Exit Course feature is not working for you? What is the behavior that you are seeing when utilizing this button vs what you are expecting to see?
I'd love to take a look to better understand and assist you.

Well at least you are moving in the correct direction now Menno :) Glad to assist. Just let us know if we can further help.
Any chance this will or can be available for non-LMS exporting? Alternatively, allowing us to invoke a script (similar to Storyline) would be helpful.
Thanks

Hi again, Tim. Thanks for sending your Rise course along. I tested it on SCORM Cloud, and it closed and reported as expected.
I advise involving your LMS support team in this effort to see if they can shed some light as to why it isn't behaving in their environment.
Let us know how you make out!
