Rise360 Embedded youtube links
Nov 04, 2020
I created an embedded youtube link into a Rise360 course. I had a few issues with the link but found a workaround. After I uploaded my course into our LMS, I tested the video. When I click on the embedded link, it takes me to a new window. When I click on the tab to go back to the Rise Course, I get the attached message. I can't re-access the course. The only way I can do it is by relaunching from our LMS.
Here is a link to the Rise course:

Here's the youtube link: https://youtu.be/5uoLTZthPHo
I requested an MP4 but I can't get one, and I can't convert it.
This course only consists of this video and a resources page so it's very basic.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Angie,
What happens when a learner clicks on a link such as a YouTube video is controlled entirely by your LMS.
So if the video opens in a new video, there is nothing in Rise that can change that behavior.
There should be controls in your LMS that change these settings.
Thank you for the quick response!
I will see what I can do on the LMS side.
I appreciate your help.

Hi Angie,
Another thing to be aware of:
Some YouTube videos do not allow you to embed them, and you have to watch them on YT. That seem to be the case for this video. This happened when I tried your SHARE link, I could not watch the video in the course, and had to go to YT and watch the video in a new window.
So in this specific case it seems to be YT issue and not a LMS problem.
I was thinking that actually because when I cut and paste the link into the browser it's fine.
Thank you for added info!

Is there a way to configure my signature so that doesn't happen in the future?
Thank you for letting me know.
