Hi there, JC. We generally recommend using videos that have a 16:9 aspect ratio to best fit the "container" for the video block in Rise 360. There isn't a way to remove the extra black space for videos with other dimensions, however.
We'd love to take a closer look at this. Would you mind sending us your course Share link? If that works for you, you can send it privately by clicking here. Thanks!
Thanks for reaching out! I wouldn’t expect to see a black outline around your video if the aspect ratio is 16:9. Would you be willing to share your video file so we can take a closer look? If that works for you, you can send it our way by clinking here.
Can you please make an option to change the background colour behind videos transparent or a colour of our choice? The black bars look awful - mine are not 16:9 as they are screen captures of software and so both not consistent but also have to take into consideration scrolling mouse etc.
I am having the same issue with an embedded 16:9 video of mine. Having the background of the video match the background of the project (or be transparent) would be ideal. It's disappointing not to have your video work displayed in the way that you intended it to look.
I have uploaded a video and I wonder if its possible to put a "cover photo" on the black video? See below, it doesnt look good. I know it looks better if I use the embedded code option in this case its not possible and I need to upload the video.
I am having the same issue with an iframe embedded 16:9 video. I am getting a thin black border that disappears when the video ends. I have set an end-screen image that explains why the border could be disappearing when the video ends, but still does not explain the thin black frame.
The frame is appearing regardless of the embed width size I have set in Rise. I have checked my after effects video file and there is no black frame or border in the file.
Has anybody been able to find a fix for this issue?
Note that I have had to upload this video and embed it from Vimeo so that I can have it autoplay and not repeat, because these options are not available in Rise.
It would be much more convenient to have an autoplay option for uploaded video’s in Rise in future.
Hello there! Are you seeing the black frame when the video is embedded from Vimeo or do you also get it even when you upload it to a Multimedia > Video block?
Would you be able to share the video file with us for testing? Our support engineers will be happy to take a closer look at this issue for you. You may upload the file directly to us by opening a case here.

I have exactly the same issue as Susan and would really appreciate such a solution.
You can click the "Style" button in the video block during edit mode to select a background color for the block.
I selected an image in my example above, but you are free to select any color you want. You can even enter the exact hex value of the background color of your video if you want the block background color to match.

Good to know. Thank you.
Hi there,
I have a similar issue except my video is in 16:9 and has a white background. The black line only appears on two edges and in medium width setting.
Kind regards,
Winnie

Hi All,
Is there any fix found for this issue.
I too have this issue and don't know how to fix, even after following the ration as 16:9.

Thank you Alyssa, the issue got solved.
If your team can provide flexibility to change the video background color to custom color would be great.
Thanks for the idea, Kishore!
Is there a resolution to this issue ?
I have embedded a video that is 16:9 ration and it still pads with black borders around the video - it just looks sloppy.
This is the embed code :
<iframe width="1280" height="720" src="https://web.microsoftstream.com/embed/video/2b754536-99ac-4e11-b7ba-80b9b57cf96f?autoplay=false&showinfo=true" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Hi Cathy! Do you see an improvement if you adjust the embed width setting to full width?

I have tried uploading the mp4 file as a video block, and I am getting the same black frame. I am going to open a case and send the files over now.
I have exactly the same issue as Susan and would really appreciate such a solution.
Hello Samira,
Happy to help!
