Hi Victor. Just in case you haven't already connected with Jeff, I thought I'd see if I can get you pointed in the right direction.
In Jeff's example, he's integrated the glossary into his course player using Storyline's lightbox feature, but you can also create a button to link to your Glossary. If you'd like to emulate Jeff's approach and add it to your course player, here's a short how-to video that should walk you through the steps: http://learn.articulate.com/lightboxes/.
If you need any other questions answered, or some more tips on lightboxes, just give us a shout!
Very nice, I thought I would have trouble linking out from the glossary to the related scene in the main window since it was a light box in a light box but had no problem (okay, so I did have to reorder my actions after first test but I count that as "finding an opportunity to learn").
Hello Trina,
Earlier I had posted a question on this piece. Is there a way to have a scrolling text box with hotspots? Thank you,
Indrani
PS: I can send you my original file.
One more thing... you can save yourself some time by importing Jeff's project into your Storyline project, first. Here's a short how-to on importing existing Storyline projects into your current Storyline project: https://community.articulate.com/series/articulate-storyline-2/articles/importing-slides-from-other-articulate-storyline-projects
Hi Ira. I believe I've just outlined the how-to part in my response to Victor (above) but if you still have questions or need some help, please let us know.
This search feature works perfectly for limited items. However the goal is to fit in couple of more items (with hot spots )in this scrolling text box. How can I do this? Any help will be super. Thank you.
Thanks Jeff! I was trying to find a better way to do a glossary for my supervisor. I tend to forget the light box function and how useful it can be. Your template makes it so much easier!
I've adapted this glossary, it was easy to resize (I made it bigger) and rebrand, thank you so much. I want to use as a standalone glossary tool though, so the light box effect feels a little odd. Is there any way to increase the size of the lightbox to give the popup more real estate?
Hi Indrani
I did keep the lightbox approach, but I sized up the master and the lightbox slides. I did not want scroll bars so worked out the maximum number of terms per letter/maximum definition size and laid out my master panels, taking into account font size and how it would look lightboxed - I used 14pt body text and it came out fine. I also had room for a small picture bottom right in each defintion. Does that help? If you have any specific questions I'd be happy to try and help further.
Pat
Hi Indrani, mine had enough for space for 15 terms per letter, if the terms are short you could probably widen the term panel and do two rows of 15, or have the terms fill the page and have the definition pop up over the terms, with a trigger to close the layer after reading. I am afraid I've never looked into how you incorporate hotspots in a scrolled area, not sure if that's possible, would love to know though. Maybe that's a question for Jeff?
Pat
Thank you, Pat. Ideally the scrolling pane with hotspots would be super. I like two rows too. But in my case, it could be cluttered. Here is a screenshot of what I am trying to achieve.
Thanks again!
With appreciation.
Indrani
The aim of the art is not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance
Hi Jeff, Thank you for sharing your template. It is so useful. However I have a question, and was wondering if this would be possible. Will it be possible to come out of the lightbox when an user clicks on an item within each subgroup. Please see my word document for a more detailed info
HI
i'm looking for a template to create a thesaurus where learners can look up terms and see the explanation.
This template is the nearest to the solution I like but not near enough. I hope that this community can point me in the best direction: Are there any templates for thesaurus?
