Personality quiz

I’d like to make a “personality quiz” that asks the user a series of 12 questions and then based on their responses, categorizes them into 1 of 3 personality types. Once categorized, I like to present the user with a video relevant to their specific personality type. Each personality type would have its own video. Hope that makes sense.
Is that type of functionality doable in Storyline?

Yes that can be done in Storyline. You could asign a score to each of your 12 questions and calculatea total score. Then, based on this score which represents a personality type, you can branch to different screens that provide info and video content for each type.
I did similar assessment on whether participants had the characteristics to Work from Home. I used Multiple Choice Quiz and assigned each answer a value (1-5). (ie 5 is perfect characteristic). I then created a results slide with triggers based on scores (ie show layer ___ when results are 8-15, show layer __ when results are >7....) Does this make sense?

It does. Thank you Alicia and Michael.
Hey Josh!
Mike put together a great video that should work for you, too:
Good luck
Hi All,
Peter, thanks for uploading Mike's example. Because he uses a pick many, the person completing the survey make more than one "style choice per slide.
Josh, If that's not a need, and the person completing the survey should only be making one choice per slide, you may want to check out Jeanette's Screenr Making Magazine Style Assessments.
Easy to follow. Uses a Multiple choice quiz to start out. No need to create new variables. Takes advantage of the built in Results.ScorePoints variable.
Peter thanks for sharing that great video - my head has just exploded with possibilities! A huge thanks to Mike of course
Hi Rameez,
I'm glad that this thread helped you out, and please let us know if you need anything else!
Hi guys
I have just tried this and for some reason it isn't working for me at all. I have added the variables exactly as stated and then the triggers. The results slide I have added Style 1 = %style 1% but it always comes up as 0. Is there anything else I need to do on the results slide?
Hi Louise and welcome to Heroes!
First, I'd start with checking your variable name - did you include the space between style and the 1 when you created the name? Next, I'd check the order of your triggers and variable adjustment - as triggers will be executed as described here.
If you're still having difficulty it may help if we're able to see your set up and the .story file.
Hi Louise,
I having the same problem with the results slide. I have followed everything int the video exactly. but the results are not showing.
Are we suppose to change the variables on the result slide as well?
Hi Odette! This thread is a bit dated. Do you have a .story file that we could take a look at?
Peter, is there any way of getting the quiz result not disclosed but sent automatically to an email address?
Thanks
Hi Henry!
We want every feature in our software to work well. Unfortunately, there’s no way to email quiz results easily, accurately, and consistently. As a result, we decided not to include the email results feature in new products. See this article for more information.
I am having the same issue, the results slide is not updating. I have attached my storyline file if anyone is able to take a look? I'm hoping it's a silly mistake? :) Thanks for any support in advance!
Hi Luke,
this is easy. Change the hierarchy of the triggers on Slide 2. The "Submit"-Trigger must be the last one. Otherwise you go to the next slide without giving points.
Now it works....
Best regards
Ralf
Ralf! Thanks lots! Stupid me :)
I've got a second hurdle now. I'm trying to pass the results via SCORM to moodle so users can see in moodle what learner they are. I've got this selected in the publish options but doesn't seem to be working. Is this a whole load more complicated?
Hi Luke,
That should do it - but you'll also want to look at what Completion settings you've used as detailed here and the SCORM version you're publishing with to see if Moodle needs a specific set up. You could also look at testing your content in SCORM Cloud which is an industry standard for testing your SCORM output. This article will walk you through some steps for testing it out.
I'm not sure this will work as SCORM 1.2 only passes pass/fail info and doesn't do any more. Unless I'm wrong or anyone experienced can answer?
Also, I noticed that although the scores work after Ralfs advice, they are random. Sometimes they display correctly and on a reload, sometimes they are incorrect.
HI Luke,
that won't work without any rework. You will have to use the "survey"-feature of the quiz. Here is a video that will surely help you:
http://articulate.com/support/storyline/how-to-send-the-value-of-a-variable-to-an-lms
Are you sure that the answers are not shown in a random mode? This would explain why it works sometimes. Then the variable a is on answer 2 which would still deliver the correct answer when you work with real content.
Thanks Ralf. Really helps out. The link you posted led me to some more info to work this out :)
Luke,
perhaps one more information:
Perhaps you should try with one question if you can see the results before you spend too much work in advance. At least in older moodle versions showing the custom variables was not part of the default settings. In this case you will have to adjust sth. in moodle.
Thanks for the resources, really useful. I am creating a Digital Personality test for academic staff.
