What works with me is recording screen and audio at the same time then re-recording the audio (in snippets) while watching the video (if I'm unhappy). I then use video editing software (e.g. Davinci Resolve) to unlink the video track and old audio track in order to replace the audio with the new audio clips.
It works well and means there are no "umms" etc. in the final recording!
